Scholarship Program to help low-income law students to pay for the Bar Exam!

How it Works?

Instructions and Submission Guidelines

Are you a current or former low-income student in need of help to pay for your Bar Exam? We are here to help!

1. Tell us your story! Write a no less than 250 words, and no more than 500 words, essay that uses two or more of the following elements to provide our team with information about who you are, your background, and why you need the scholarship:

  • Narrative: Tells a Story
  • Descriptive: Paints a Picture 
  • Expository: States the Facts 
  • Persuasive: Convinces Us

2. Use the form below to submit your essay. Please type or paste your essay as plain text, not HTML, and please do not use brackets. Please note that this form is to submit essays by low-income current and former law students in need of help to pay for the Bar Exam; general questions to Friendly Law can be sent by email to info@friendlylaw.org . What Happens Next?

After the application period ends, the team will read, review and analyse all submissions with the goal of selecting 10 students as finalists; 5 females and 5 males.

2. The 10 finalist students will be contacted be email for them to submit a no longer than 250 words essay about “how receiving the scholarship would help them to continue pursuing their dream and advancing in their career,” and to arrange a digital interview with our team.

3. Once interviews are concluded, and essays received, reviewed, and analyzed, our team will then select two students (one female and one male) to be granted with the scholarship!

4. Selected students will be notified by email. Bar Exam payments will be sent directly to the respective State Board of Law Examiners. Student will also be granted a $100 per diem for them to cover the cost of gas, food, and maybe lodging, during the two day exam period. The $200 stipend will be sent directly to the students in the form of a check. Students will receive the checks approximately one week prior to the student’s exam date.
